Australia's three flags tell the unvarnished story of our nation - The West Australian

September is a patriotic month.

It begins with Wattle Day, we celebrate Flag Day and ends with the AFL grand final.

All moments to reflect on the nation we love and how we bring people together for a better future.

When Anthony Albanese took to the podium for his first press conference as Prime Minister at Parliament House, he stood not in front of one flag, but three. The Australian national flag. The Australian Aboriginal flag. The Torres Strait Islander flag.

To some, this change may have appeared insignificant.

We've got, in particular Senate and House crossbench Senators, crossbenchers I should say, saying, look at this, be willing to talk about the timing or even it going ahead altogether. Are you open for a discussion?

G20 Ministerial Conference on Women's Empowerment

Thank you very much, Minister Bintang.

Thank you very much for your generous hospitality and hosting today.

Excellencies, Ministers, it’s my pleasure to represent Australia today in support of Indonesia’s G20 Presidency.

Before I turn to my remarks today, I wish to acknowledge that today is Ukraine’s Independence Day and also marks six long months since Russia's full scale invasion of Ukraine. Australia condemns in the strongest terms this illegal and inhuman invasion.
