TV interview - ABC News Breakfast

GREG JENNETT, HOST: Finance Minister Katy Gallagher joins us now from Parliament House. Welcome Senator. I might get to all the things in your portfolio in just a moment, but just on this emerging news concerning the AFL - and the Hawthorn football club in particular - I appreciate it's for the AFL, but wondering on the details that you have observed, whether, because the wellbeing of First Nations people is involved here, might this be something that a body like the Voice to Parliament could embrace and pay attention to once formed?

Land Deal Signing Brings Larrakia Cultural Centre Significant Step Closer

Larrakia Development Corporation (LDC) has finalised an agreement with the Northern Territory Government providing land to develop the Larrakia Cultural Centre at Stokes Hill.

Since 2005, the LDC has negotiated with the Northern Territory Government for the development of a Cultural Centre on a suitable site, based on a 1998 Native Title extinguishment agreement related to the railway corridor from Alice Springs to Darwin.

I begin by acknowledging the traditional owners of the land on which we are meeting -

The Ngunnawal and Ngambri people –

I thank Paul House for that welcome and the important role it has in maintaining our connection to culture.

I also extend that respect to all First Nations people here from ‘every point under the southern sky’.

Thank you all for attending tonight.

I thank CEDA for giving Patrick and I the opportunity this evening –

And the kind introduction from Bess Clark.

Statement on the passing of Uncle Jack Charles

It was with great sadness I learned today of the passing of Uncle Jack Charles in Melbourne and I offer my deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones.

A Boon Wurrung, Dja Dja Wurrung, Woiwurrung and Yorta Yorta Elder, and a member of the Stolen Generations, Uncle Jack Charles is widely considered to be the ‘grandfather of Indigenous Theatre’, co-founding Australia’s first Indigenous theatre group, Nindethana in 1971.

He was a ground-breaking storyteller and activist who brought people in with his warmth and grace, never shying away from his past and who he was.

Television interview - Sky News Newsday

TOM CONNELL, HOST: The PM has been grilled on his plans for a republic and also what's going to happen over the next few days as we are still in a stage of mourning around the world and in Australia. Joining me live is Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister, Patrick Gorman. Thanks very much for your time. What about your reflections, first of all, on Queen Elizabeth II, we're sort of similar age and it just feels like she's been there forever because for our lives she has.
