More support for First Nations children and young people in Central Australia to get the best start in life

The Albanese Government‘s $18.4 million investment to support children in Central Australia with FASD, ADHD and autism is being rolled out and will help children get the best possible start in life.

The initiative is part of the landmark $250 million plan for A Better, Safer Future for Central Australia.

The funding will more than double the number of First Nations children with neurodevelopmental issues who can access assessments through the Child and Youth Assessment and Treatment Services (CYATS) Program.

The increase to the Child Care subsidy is benefiting around 3,000 families in Lingiarithis is good for children, good for families and good for Australia.

Families on a combined income of $80,000 or less, are now benefiting from an increase of the Child Care Subsidy rate to 90 per cent.

Gender pay gap drops to lowest level on record under Albanese Labor government

New data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) today shows that the national gender pay gap has dropped from 13.3% in November 2022 to 13% in May 2023, the lowest level on record.

At the election, Labor committed to help close the gender pay gap and make women’s economic equality a priority of government.

Minister for Women, Senator the Hon Katy Gallagher, said that the figures released today show that Labor’s efforts to drive a better deal for women have been working.

New Action Plans include concrete steps and targets to end gender-based violence

All Australian governments have agreed to concrete actions and measurable targets to end gender-based violence within a generation with the release of two Action Plans under the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022-2032.

The Albanese Labor Government has today released the First Action Plan and the dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Action Plan which chart the path to reducing – and ultimately ending – the pervasive rates of family, domestic and sexual violence in communities across the nation.
