Securing the rehabilitation of Ranger Uranium Mine

The Albanese Government is ensuring rehabilitation continues at Ranger Uranium Mine in the Northern Territory to allow the site to be returned to the Mirarr Traditional Owners.

Minister for Resources and Northern Australia Madeleine King has issued a new rehabilitation authority to Energy Resources Australia (ERA) to continue its rehabilitation activities at the former mine site. 

Historic $600 million investment to transform First Nations housing

The Albanese Labor Government will deliver significant investment in First Nations housing through the Housing Australia Future Fund, with $600 million committed in Round 3 to improving housing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

This commitment further strengthens the community-controlled housing sector and embeds Closing the Gap priorities at the heart of the Government's housing agenda.

ROS CHILDS, host: Authorities have confirmed that they're investigating the alleged throwing of a bomb into an Invasion Day rally crowd in Perth as a potential terrorist act. WA Police allege a 31-year-old man threw a device containing screws and ball bearings surrounded by an explosive liquid into the crowd of about two and a half thousand in the heart of Perth’s CBD. Earlier I spoke to Minister for Indigenous Australians, Malarndirri McCarthy.

Critical works delivered to restore clean drinking water supply in Woorabinda

The Albanese and Crisafulli Governments and Woorabinda Aboriginal Shire Council have made critical progress in restoring a clean drinking water supply to Woorabinda, allowing an 11-month boil water alert to be lifted.

This achievement is thanks to a $36 million First Nations water security project, jointly funded by the Albanese Government, through the National Water Grid Fund, and the Crisafulli Government’s Closing the Gap Priorities Fund.

Albanese Labor Government delivering record NT healthcare

The Albanese Labor Government is strengthening healthcare in the Northern Territory, delivering across the board – from education and training to aged and primary care.

The first cohort of students will commence at Charles Darwin University medical school in February, delivering a major boost to medical training and the doctor pipeline in the Northern Territory.

The Government is investing $24.6 million to deliver the medical school, which will mark a step change for medical training in the Northern Territory.
