KARL STEFANOVIC, HOST: The International Monetary Fund is urging Australia to continue raising rates, claiming our economy is still running far too hot. I thought the IMF was on 'Mission Impossible'. Now do we care Malarndirri? I also thought that you were going to reduce the cost-of-living pressures.

SENATOR MAALRNDIRRI MCCARTHY: We are. We are doing that through way through cheaper childcare, cheaper medicines. You would have seen yesterday even with Medicare bulk billing across the country, more than 11 million Australians will be able to access more in terms of Medicare. So, we are doing it around cost of living in those areas.

STEFANOVIC: I don't know what's cheaper under your government though, Malarndirri?

MCCARTHY: Well, clearly you haven't been to the GP. You'll find that out if you go because you'll see it straight away and so will families from Sydney right up to remote and regional areas of Australia. That's a significant investment and we haven't seen that in more than a decade and we've certainly seen more jobs, certainly higher pay for people in the care sector. But that doesn't take away though, and we do understand this, that doesn't take away the instability that's created throughout the world over what's occurring. And that does impact us. But we have got a 10-point plan to make sure that we can reach out to Australians.
