The Albanese Government is pleased to announce Ms Melissa Doyle AM as the new Chair of the National Australia Day Council Board.
Ms Doyle has had a distinguished career as a television presenter, author and journalist, with more than 30 years of experience.
In the 2016 Australia Day Honours List, Ms Doyle was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia, recognising her significant service to the community through roles with a range of charities and in broadcast media.
Ms Doyle is a Director of the Greater Western Sydney Giants Football Club, and former Chairperson and Director of the GIANTS Foundation.
She is currently champion for Australian children as National Patron and Ambassador for the Make-A-Wish Australia and Ambassador for The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and World Vision.
In addition, she has previously served as a patron for Adopt Change, Legacy and the National Breast Cancer Foundation and an ambassador for the Children’s Cancer Institute Australia.
The National Australia Day Council helps deliver more than 800 events around the country on 26 January and delivers the Australian of the Year Awards.
Ms Doyle will be appointed for a 3-year term commencing in September 2026.
The Albanese Government thanks Mr John Foreman AM for his work as the National Australia Day Council Board Chair from 2023 to 2026.
