New appointments to the National Australia Day Council Board

The Australian Government is pleased to announce four appointments to the National Australia Day Council Board.

Mr John Foreman OAM has been appointed Chair of the Board. Mr Foreman brings extensive experience to the role, having directed many large-scale national events and inspiring and mentoring countless young performers. Mr Foreman has been the Creative Director for Australia Day in Sydney since 2015.

Ms Jody Broun, CEO of the National Indigenous Australians Agency, has been appointed as a Director of the Board. Ms Broun is a Yinjibarndi woman from the Pilbara who brings more than 30 years’ experience in the government and not-for-profit sectors to the Board.

Internationally recognised paediatric cardiologist Dr Bo Reményi has been appointed as a Director of the Board. Dr Reményi arrived in Australia as a refugee from Hungary, and was the 2018 Australian of the Year for the Northern Territory for her work on addressing rheumatic heart disease.

Ms Nikki Govan has been reappointed as a Director of the Board. Ms Govan has brought a wealth of experience to the role, and her colleagues have greatly valued her contributions over the past two years. She is also currently Chair of Business SA, the South Australian Chamber of Commerce and the Adelaide Economic Development Agency.

These appointments reflect our proudly diverse nation, with each person bringing unique, lived experiences to the Board. The new appointments will also provide a gender balance to the Board.

The Australian Government sincerely thanks outgoing Chair Ms Danni Roche OAM and Director Ms Jane McNamara for their contributions and service on the Board.
