National Reconciliation Week (27 May to 3 June) is an important time for Australians to reflect and build on the work of generations past, for the benefit of future generations.
National Reconciliation Week provides an opportunity for Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements.
The Minister for Indigenous Australians, Linda Burney will be attending the National Reconciliation Week Breakfast at Parliament House in Canberra this morning.
The theme for Reconciliation Week in 2023 is ‘Be a Voice for Generations’, encouraging all Australians to work together to create a more just, united and reconciled country for all.
A more united Australia that takes pride in 65,000 years of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and connection to country.
An Australia that believes in the right of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to have their voices heard; and an Australia that stands opposed to racism, inequity and injustice.
We urge all Australians to join us in participating in activities this National Reconciliation Week.
Later this year, Australians will have a chance to take the next step on the long journey towards reconciliation by voting in 2023 referendum to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our constitution through a Voice to Parliament.
2023 will be the year that Australia moves forward to a better future, for everyone.
